SNAP overview

SNAP is the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) (SIU) for admission to postgraduate M.B.A. programmes across its constituent institutes. SNAP is a computer-based, objective multiple-choice test designed to assess candidates on verbal ability, analytical and logical reasoning, quantitative and data interpretation skills, and understanding of ethics and values. SNAP is used by Symbiosis institutes to shortlist candidates for further selection stages such as Group Exercise, Personal Interaction and Written Ability Tests.

Who conducts SNAP

SNAP is organised and administered by Symbiosis International (Deemed University). The official SNAP portal is https://www.snaptest.org/ where candidates register, download admit cards, and find official notifications. SIU publishes the test structure, schedules, and instructions on the official site.

SNAP purpose and scope

  • SNAP serves as the single entrance assessment for multiple Symbiosis M.B.A. programmes — the portal lists 17 institutes and 29 M.B.A. programmes accessible through SNAP.
  • Performance on SNAP determines shortlisting for institute-level selection processes including GE-PI and other rounds defined by individual Symbiosis institutes.
  • SNAP’s format and scoring are used to derive a percentile and score that are final as published by SIU.

Test format and marking

SNAP is an objective test with four options per question. The test consists of 60 questions across four sections with each correct answer carrying one mark and each incorrect answer attracting a penalty of 25% of the marks for that question. The four sections are: General English (10 questions), Analytical & Logical Reasoning (20 questions), Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency (20 questions), and Ethics, Morality and Values (10 questions). Total marks are 60 and the test duration is 60 minutes. SNAP tests are prepared to ensure controlled spread of topics and statistical checks on difficulty across multiple test forms.

Multiple test attempts policy

SNAP allows candidates to appear in up to three separate SNAP tests in the same year; the best score among the attempts is used for the final percentile calculation. SIU states there is no normalization because tests are prepared with controlled statistical measures; the higher score will be considered. Candidates should note that the best-of-three policy applies to the published test dates and forms.

Admit card and identification

SNAP admit cards must be downloaded and printed from https://www.snaptest.org/. SIU publishes specific admit-card release dates for each test; for December 2026 the portal lists admit-card availability on 07 Dec, 11 Dec and 18 Dec respectively for the three tests. Candidates must paste a recent passport-size colour photograph (not older than six months) on the admit card and bring original photo ID for verification at the test centre. The authenticated admit card should be preserved for further admission steps; SIU will not issue duplicate authenticated admit cards.

Test-day rules and restrictions

  • SNAP test centres enforce strict rules: electronic gadgets including mobile phones, calculators, digital watches with memory, smartwatches, fitness bands, and wearable smart devices are prohibited in the test hall.
  • Candidates will not be permitted to leave the test hall before the test is completed and re-entry is not allowed after submission.
  • Late arrivals will not be permitted after gates are closed for the centre as per SIU instructions.
  • SIU reserves the right to deny entry for candidates under the influence of prohibited substances and to disqualify any candidate indulging in malpractice.

Test accessibility and special categories

SNAP provides guidance for Persons with Disabilities and for reserved categories; PwD, SC, ST, Kashmiri migrants and other specified categories are requested to upload relevant documents during registration. Specific provisions and documentation requirements are detailed on the official portal.

Use of SNAP scores and post-test processes

SNAP scores are final as published by SIU and are used by Symbiosis institutes to shortlist candidates for GE-PI and other selection stages. Candidates should retain authenticated admit cards for GE-PI, and follow institute-specific schedules for further rounds. Any instance of incorrect information or process violation detected at any stage may lead to disqualification from the admission process and future SNAP attempts.

Security, malpractice and grievance

SNAP emphasises test security and fairness. Any malpractice or impersonation will lead to disqualification from SIU admission processes and may invite legal action. SIU’s scrutiny mechanisms and a Scrutiny Committee address detected errors in question papers and take final decisions after tests. SNAP scores are final and not subject to appeal or revaluation as per the official site.

What after SNAP?

After SNAP: SNAP scores are used by Symbiosis institutes to shortlist candidates for GE-PI (Group Exercise and Personal Interview) and WAT (Written Ability Test); SNAP is the mandatory entrance test for the listed programmes and institutes as published on snaptest.org.

Preserve authenticated admit card and original documents: Candidates must preserve the authenticated SNAP admit card and bring original photo ID and category/PwD/Kashmiri Migrant documents for institute rounds and final verification as instructed on snaptest.org.

Shortlisting and institute rounds: Each Symbiosis institute publishes its shortlisting list, GE-PI-WAT schedule, weightages and final merit list on its programme page; candidates should regularly check the relevant programme page linked from the official SNAP portal (https://www.snaptest.org/) for updates.

Disqualification and malpractice: Any malpractice detected during SNAP or subsequent rounds will lead to disqualification from the admission process and possible legal action as per the rules on snaptest.org.

Offers and admission formalities: Final admission offers, fee payment instructions, waiting list procedures and orientation schedules are communicated by each institute on snaptest.org after completion of GE-PI-WAT and document verification.

Contact and official updates: For authoritative post-exam instructions, re-check official notifications and institute pages on the SNAP portal (https://www.snaptest.org/).
