Admission to the flagship programs at IMI Delhi is primarily based on valid scores in the CAT or XAT entrance exams. For the 2026-2027 admission cycle, IMI Delhi continues to employ a holistic shortlisting process that weighs entrance exam performance alongside consistent academic records and professional diversity. While the institute does not mandate rigid sectional cutoffs like the older IIMs, it emphasizes a balanced percentile across sections to ensure candidates possess well-rounded analytical and verbal skills Admission Brochure 2026.
Exam Scores and Weightage Logic
The shortlisting process at IMI Delhi is multi-layered. For the first stage, the CAT exam or XAT scores carry significant weightage, typically around 35% to 40% of the total score. The institute also places high importance on Class 10th and 12th marks, as well as graduation performance, to filter for academic consistency. Unlike public institutions, IMI Delhi is a private B-school and does not follow the Government of India reservation policy for seat allocation; admissions are primarily merit-based for the General category, with specific provisions for NRI and Corporate Sponsored candidates Official Website 2025.
Recent Cutoff Trends
Over the last three admission cycles, the cutoff for the flagship PGDM program at IMI Delhi has remained stable yet competitive, hovering between the 88th and 90th percentile. The PGDM (B&FS) and PGDM (HRM) programs usually see a slightly lower threshold, often between 85 and 87 percentile. The stability in these numbers, despite an increasing applicant pool, can be attributed to the institute’s shift towards a "profile-based" shortlisting approach where candidates with exceptional work experience or academic backgrounds are considered even at the lower end of the percentile band Admission Brochure 2026.

Student Reviews
The corporate exposure at IMI Delhi is unmatched. Being in the heart of the national capital, we get guest lectures from top industry leaders almost every weekend. The Bloomberg Terminal access and the focus on case-study pedagogy helped me clear my finance certifications easily.
The IMI Delhi campus is relatively small compared to newer IIMs. Since it is located in the Qutub Institutional Area, there is limited space for sports or outdoor activities. Also, the intensive curriculum often leaves you with very little personal time between corporate projects and club submissions.
The PGDM-BFS program is a specialized gem. The placement cell is extremely professional, ensuring that top brands from the BFSI sector like J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs visit for summer internships. The alumni network is massive and very responsive to current students.
The total fees at IMI Delhi stand at INR 24 Lakhs, which is on the higher side for a Tier-2 school. While the ROI is good, the hostel facilities could be upgraded to better justify the premium price point, especially the common recreational areas which feel crowded.
Placements at IMI Delhi are very consistent. I secured a consulting role with an 18.5 LPA package. The faculty members are mostly PhDs from top-tier institutes and bring real-world consulting experience into the classroom, making theoretical concepts much easier to apply in business scenarios.
The competitive pressure can be overwhelming during the first year. The grading system at IMI Delhi is quite rigorous, and keeping up with the constant stream of quizzes and assignments while preparing for the CAT or GMAT-style surprise tests can be mentally taxing for some students.
I loved the peer diversity in the PGDM-HR program. We had students from engineering, commerce, and even law backgrounds. This diversity makes the group discussions and live projects at IMI Delhi incredibly rich in perspective. The annual fest, Kritva, is another major highlight of campus life.
Commuting to the campus during peak Delhi traffic can be a nightmare for day scholars. While IMI Delhi provides excellent academic facilities, the library, though well-stocked, often runs out of seating space during the mid-term and end-term exam weeks because of the high student intake.
The technical infrastructure at IMI Delhi, including the SAP lab and high-speed Wi-Fi across the campus, is top-notch. The placement team works tirelessly to bring in diverse roles in Product Management and Business Analytics, which are increasingly popular among the current batch.
The hostel food is decent but can get monotonous over time. Additionally, because IMI Delhi is located in a premium area, the cost of living outside the campus for students who do not get on-campus housing can be quite expensive compared to other cities.
